The Green Level Town Council voted May 9 to authorize the immediate purchase of four replacement pumps for the town’s pump stations and approved adjustments to the town’s utility fee schedule to charge by lineal foot.
Public Works Director A.J. Simmons presented quotes showing each pump price per station; council members debated buying all four pumps at once versus staggering purchases. Mayor Pro‑Tem Patricia Jones moved to approve purchasing all four pumps now; Councilmember Michael Trollinger seconded and the motion passed unanimously (5-0).
Simmons also reported the annual Consumer Confidence Report for the town’s water system is available online and recommended shifting patch/repair charges from a flat rate to a per‑foot charge that distinguishes materials and labor. Councilmember Michael Trollinger moved to adopt the fee schedule and the supporting application; Councilmember Stephanie Enoch seconded and the motion passed unanimously (5-0).
Council members raised residents’ reports of low water pressure. Simmons said a study of roughly 300 homes has begun to diagnose pressure variations and noted some houses have pressure‑reducing regulators that can lower household pressure. He reiterated that the town can trace flow to the meter but property owners are responsible for lines beyond the meter.
