The Pittsburg County Board of County Commissioners approved a Certificate of Authority Dec. 29 permitting Kenneth and RoMarie Morrow to establish Morrow Cemetery in District 1, the county clerk’s office said.
County Clerk filing materials included the cemetery name, owner names and a legal description of the tract in Section 33, Township 54. The certificate notes compliance with Oklahoma statutes (Title 8) and shows the document was recorded in county records. Chairman Charlie Rogers moved to approve the certificate; Vice‑Chair Ross Selman seconded the motion and the board voted unanimously.
Why it matters: County certificates of authority are the formal record that an entity has met state and county filing requirements to establish and maintain a cemetery; the approval places the certificate on record in the Pittsburg County Clerk’s office.
Next steps: The certificate is filed with the county clerk and the cemetery owners may proceed under the recorded authority and applicable state statutes.
