Richard Bedford, manager of the Southeast Expo Center, updated the Pittsburg County commissioners on Dec. 22, 2025, saying the facility completed scheduled events for the year and staff would attempt to install a mini jumbotron frame ahead of the Pitt conference but may not finish in time.
Bedford said promoter Dustin Murry (as referenced in the manager's written update) is seeking a three‑year exclusive contract that would preclude other rodeo‑style events for 90 days before and after the High Low Rodeo. Bedford said another promoter had asked to meet; he asked the board to consider the terms because a 90‑day blackout would limit the county's ability to lease the hall while dirt was in place.
Commissioner Mike Haynes suggested a 30‑day blackout before and after events, while Chairman Charlie Rogers favored 90 days before but not after. The commissioners did not adopt a contract or set policy; Bedford asked staff to obtain quotes for ride‑on floor sweepers to remove dirt from the expo hall and to continue jumbotron work.
Bedford also provided a written update noting all 2026 events were complete and reiterating the equipment and contracting questions to be resolved next year.
