Burleson County approves FY2024 budget calendar, multiple contracts and roadwork

Burleson County Commissioners Court on May 8 approved the FY2024 budget calendar and a set of contracts and roadwork authorizations, voting unanimously on each motion.

The court adopted the FY2024 budget calendar and policy after a motion by Commissioner David Hildebrand, seconded by Commissioner Dwayne Faust. The calendar sets the schedule and policy guidance for next year’s budget process.

The court also approved a contract with Project SNIP after a motion by Commissioner Vincent Svec, seconded by Commissioner Faust. The agenda lists the contract as presented with attachments; no commissioners recorded dissent.

Commissioners approved a civil engineering contract to provide services associated with a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Dam Safety grant, award #582-23-42862, for work on Cade Lake #3 Dam. Commissioner Faust moved the measure and Commissioner Svec seconded; the motion passed with all votes in favor.

The court approved proposed names for two private roads — Sweet Pea Lane and Husk Lane — after a motion by Commissioner Svec and second by Commissioner Hildebrand.

County leaders authorized localized maintenance projects: cleaning dirt on County Roads 217 and 228 on property owned by Craig Scarmardo (motion by Svec, seconded by Faust) and cleaning ditches on County Road 130 with placement of excess material on Deanville Volunteer Fire Department property (motion by Faust, seconded by Hildebrand). Both motions passed unanimously.

Commissioner Hildebrand moved and Commissioner Svec seconded approval of a contract with Vigilant Solutions LLC of Dallas to provide a license-plate recognition (LPR) system; the court approved the contract with unanimous votes.
