Burleson County approves deputations, GED MOU and routine personnel/budget items

Burleson County Commissioners Court on Sept. 11 approved several personnel and operational items, including deputation of two deputy sheriffs, a memorandum of understanding for GED classes, and FY2024 salary items ordered by the District Court.

The court deputized Morgan Jackson and Samuel Wallingford as deputy sheriffs on a motion by Commissioner David Hildebrand, seconded by Commissioner Dwayne Faust; the motion carried unanimously. The court also approved an MOU with the Brazos Valley Council of Governments (BVCOG) to provide GED classes; that motion was moved by Commissioner Robert (Bobby) Urbanosky and seconded by Commissioner Vincent Svec.

Additionally, the court approved FY2024 salaries and budget items per District Court orders for the County Auditor and court reporters. The Auditor provided routine revenue reporting earlier in the meeting: August sales tax receipts of $135,494 (down 14%) and September receipts of $128,186 (down 4% but YTD up 4.5%). The court also authorized payment of county bills.

Chief Rios reported the jail population at 45 inmates (39 males and 6 females) and noted open positions: two patrol, two jailers and two dispatch positions. These staffing gaps were recorded during the department report.

The motions on these personnel and operational items were all adopted unanimously; attachments referenced at the meeting contain the formal MOU and salary/order documents.
