The Durham County Board of Commissioners voted on April 29 to approve a broad consent agenda that included contracts, capital project amendments and budget ordinance changes.
Items approved included a $55,389 contract with LYME Technology Solutions for the RAVE Alert Pro mass notification platform; a capital project amendment appropriating $750,000 from the North Carolina Public School Building Repair Fund to DPS interior repairs and $1.3 million from the NC Education Lottery Building Capital Fund for CC Spaulding Elementary School auditorium renovations; a $50,000 nonprofit contract to expand Meals on Wheels delivery for food‑insecure seniors; and a $171,000 fiscal year 2024 audit contract with Cherry Bekaert LLP.
The board approved a Limited Obligation Bond (LOBS) allocation of $4,786,693 to the Board of Elections S. Roxboro Street renovation project and authorized opioid settlement fund spending of $367,400 for public health programs. The board also approved Durham County’s participation in the FAST transit priority study with an $110,000 local match from GoTriangle funds and recognized ARPA interest and realigned ARPA categories totaling $2,031,071 in the general fund budget.
Most consent items were approved in a single motion; two items were pulled for separate votes or discussion. Commissioner Wendy Jacobs moved the consent agenda approval (except the pulled items) and Vice Chair Nimasheena Burns seconded; the board carried the motion unanimously on that set of items.
Votes at a glance: minutes approval and the majority of consent items passed unanimously; Item 24‑0241 was later approved with recorded ayes and an abstention; Item 24‑0245 (Knox Street Studios ARPA grant) was pulled and approved separately (see separate coverage).
The approvals authorize staff to execute contracts, proceed with capital project work, and appropriate funds as specified in the adopted budget ordinances.
