At the Dec. 22, 2025 meeting, the Mackinac County Board of Commissioners approved a series of administrative actions and contracts.
Facilities: County Clerk Hillary Vowell presented a bid from Eversons Furniture for new carpet ($9,446.40) and installation ($2,949.50) for the new Veterans office; the board approved the purchase unanimously.
Agreements and contracts: The board approved the 2026 MSU Extension annual agreement. The county awarded its sole snow-removal bid to Randy Lee, GLE, for service through April 2027. Bryce Tracy, E911/Emergency Manager, presented a recommended list for the 911 & Emergency District Board and the board appointed the recommended individuals.
Appointments: The board appointed Edward Olson to the Veterans Service Committee (term to 12/31/2028), and Daryl Orr and David Buss to terms expiring 12/31/2029.
Equalization: The board accepted Equalization Director Dulcee Ranta's recommendation for an ad valorem per-parcel increase to help equalization efforts: the board recorded $0.75 per parcel for 2026, $1.00 for 2027 and $1.50 for 2028; Clerk Hillary Vowell and Director Ranta will prepare notices for local units. (The transcript stated ".75 cents" for 2026; the minutes and this article treat that figure as $0.75 per parcel.)
Fiscal housekeeping: Commissioners approved additional bills of Dec. 11 totaling $157,177.02 and additional bills of Dec. 22 totaling $701,234.14. The board approved budget amendments #2025-44, #2025-45 and #2025-46.
