Charlie Dixon, public relations officer for the Thomasville Volunteer Fire Department, presented the department'9s year-to-date outreach and education work to the council and mayor. Dixon said the department staffed a community-college event where roughly 177 children signed a visitor book; the department also distributed 340 bags with activity materials and demonstrated a 9-1-1 simulator intended to teach both children and adults how to interact with emergency dispatch.
Dixon described posters and a newsletter page recognizing Clark County and Thomasville activity; he said the materials and posters will be displayed at the fire station. Council members praised the department'9s prevention work. Roy Wade emphasized countywide cooperation on smoke-alarm distribution and other prevention programs and thanked Thomasville'9s volunteers for community engagement.
Council members noted the broader public-safety benefit of prevention efforts and youth outreach. No formal action was required; Dixon said the department will continue outreach and make materials available at the station.
