Switzerland County commissioners approve $11,540 copier purchase, reappoint sewer board member and clear routine claims

The Switzerland County Board of Commissioners approved a slate of routine administrative items at its Feb. 17, 2026 meeting, including a purchase of two copy machines paid from casino revenue and the reappointment of a sewer board member.

Commissioner Jamie Peters moved to approve claims as presented; Commissioner Joe Bennett seconded and the motion passed with all commissioners voting in favor. Later in the agenda Commissioner Ryan Harrison moved to reappoint Tom Conroy to the Florence Regional Sewer board; Bennett seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

The board also approved bonds for the county treasurer and county clerk after a motion by Peters. Dawn from the recorder's office and Karin from the clerk's office requested new copiers; Harrison moved to approve copiers for both offices and Bennett seconded. Harrison then moved to pay $11,540 from the commissioners' casino revenue for the two machines; Bennett seconded and the board voted in favor.

Commissioner Ryan Harrison moved to table consideration of custodian applications for two weeks and to solicit bids from private cleaning companies; Commissioner Jamie Peters seconded and the motion passed. Shannon Brown introduced himself as a candidate for sheriff; the introduction drew no formal action.
