Parks staff presented a set of draft FY2026–27 budget priorities and asked the board for feedback on project sequencing and funding. Jordan Green highlighted several items: additional funding to complete Mayfair Meadows (to advance jump lines and the pump track and strengthen matching grant applications), two sand volleyball courts (cost estimate about $46,000 for materials and nets), improvements to the Ryan Glen disc-golf course, and equipment purchases (side-by-side ATV with plow, dump trailer and a 4-wheeler) to improve maintenance efficiency.
Green also proposed a modest public-art seed fund to support vandal-resistant installations and student projects, shade shelters for benches along trails, and continued reserves for large-scale projects. He said some professional-services funding was available in the current fiscal year and that using the dollars now could take advantage of contractor availability.
Board members urged staff to identify specific sites before committing funds for the volleyball courts and asked whether certain funds (cash-in-lieu park funds) could be used. Members suggested partnering with local volunteer groups (Eagle Scouts, churches) for some installations to reduce costs. Staff agreed to research funding specifics, vendor timelines and site feasibility and to return with recommendations during the budget process.
No formal budget appropriation occurred at the meeting; the board provided direction to staff as part of the budget development process.
