Fulton County commissioners voted Dec. 30 to accept a State Interconnectivity Grant totaling $230,699.51 to support maintenance and upgrades to the county's 911 and communications systems, and to hire a per‑diem 911 dispatcher.
EMA/911 Director Brian Barton and HR Administrator Mary Huston reviewed the grant with the board. Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to approve and execute the grant agreement; commissioners voted unanimously. The grant amount — $230,699.51 — is designated for the following projects as listed in the grant: SouthCentral Mountain CAD Maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain CHE Maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain ESInet Maintenance, Fulton NG911 GIS Maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain Battery Upgrade, and Fulton ILEC Maintenance.
Separately, Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to hire Troy Wagaman as a Per Diem 911 Dispatcher, effective pending required clearances. The board approved the hire unanimously, and a brief Salary Board meeting later set the new hire's salary. The hire and the grant approval were reported together during the commissioners' discussion of EMA/911 matters.
The county did not list discrete budget or matching requirements for the grant during the meeting; implementation and scheduling for the listed maintenance projects will be handled by EMA/911 staff.
