Marion County names new volunteers to Fair Board and Parks Commission

The Marion County Board of Commissioners approved multiple appointments on March 4, 2026, filling volunteer positions on two county commissions and designating Parks Commission leadership.

Commissioner Kevin Cameron moved to appoint Jeff Simons as a Key Volunteer to the Marion County Fair Board for a term ending Dec. 31, 2029; Commissioner Colm Willis seconded and the motion carried with Commissioner Bethell absent. The board also approved appointments for the Parks Commission: Hunter McClure as an At-Large member (term to Dec. 31, 2029), and Alton Hoover as Chair and Tabitha Henricksen as Vice-Chair (terms to March 4, 2028). The Parks item was presented by Kevin Thompson and approved by the board on the same vote pattern.

The actions fill multi-year volunteer seats that support county events and park oversight; the board did not attach additional funding or charter changes to the appointments at the time of vote.
