The Roosevelt County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the FY25 preliminary budget on May 28 following a public hearing and a presentation by County Manager Amber Hamilton.
Hamilton summarized projected revenues and expenses, described funded-position requests that had been discussed in earlier budget workshops, and noted a positive reduction in county debt service. The commission entered the budget public hearing at 6:50 p.m., closed it at 7:02 p.m., and approved the preliminary budget on a motion by Commissioner Dennis Lopez, seconded by Commissioner Paul Grider. All five commissioners voted yes.
Clerk Mandi Park separately reported on upcoming election logistics during the meeting: 425 early ballots had been cast in the Clerk’s Office and equipment delivery was expected later in the week; Election Day is June 4 and the canvass will occur at the next meeting.
Why it matters: The preliminary budget establishes spending and revenue expectations for FY25 and preserves the county’s accounting of funded positions while leaving room for final adjustments before formal adoption.
What happens next: The preliminary budget will move through the county’s remaining review steps toward final adoption; staff will continue audit and close-out work ahead of the fiscal year.
