Greenville City Council on Oct. 3, 2023 approved several routine and administrative actions including two equipment purchases for the Public Safety Department, a traffic control order, committee appointments and tentative labor agreements for police staff following an executive session.
Council approved an award to Municipal Emergency Services, Inc. for a Hand Held Thermal Imaging Equipment Package not to exceed $4,197.00 and awarded a Canon EOS R50 Camera Package to Camera Exchange of Waterford, MI, not to exceed $3,416.90. The council also approved Traffic Control Order No. 2023-01 to install 'No Parking At Any Time' signage on specified segments of Pinewood, Cedarwood, Sprucewood and Tamarack streets (motion by Councilperson Moss; second by Councilperson Barrus). These items were approved unanimously.
The council approved the proposed community membership list for the Recreation 5-year Plan Steering Committee. Later in the meeting the council voted to enter an executive session at 8:23 p.m. to discuss contract negotiations with the Police Officers Labor Council (POLC) and the Command Officers Association of Michigan (COAM). After returning at 8:54 p.m., the council voted to approve a tentative agreement dated Aug. 14, 2023 with the POLC (non-supervisory unit) and a tentative agreement dated Sept. 14, 2023 with COAM (supervisory unit), the latter subject to receipt of a signed copy. All recorded actions were approved unanimously.
The meeting also approved routine financial items on the consent agenda, including payroll reports ($164,372.33 and $164,356.24) and accounts payable ($318,419.33), and accepted the August financial report. Council adjourned at 8:57 p.m.
