Port Deposit council readies fall newsletter, praises repairs and publicizes Pirate Takeover

Council members used the Sept. 16 work session to report routine town business and upcoming events. Councilman Daniel Berlin said the fall newsletter is nearly complete and asked for any remaining submissions. He also congratulated Mayor Wayne Tome Jr. on the recent birth of his child.

Councilman Tom Knight said he was satisfied with repairs to the sidewalk and the parking-lot entrance at 43 S. Main Street. Deputy Mayor Kevin Brown reiterated appreciation for the town’s progress on the five proposed tax-sale properties.

During public comment, developer Joe Moran thanked the Town Council and staff for their ongoing support; Town Administrator Vicky Rinkerman acknowledged his professionalism. The council announced the Port Deposit Pirate Takeover festival for Sept. 20 (11 a.m.–5 p.m.) and Sept. 21 (11 a.m.–4 p.m.), and a downtown block party on Sept. 20 at 6 p.m. on S. Main Street between Center Street and Oyster Shell Alley. Mayor Wayne Tome Jr. adjourned the meeting at 7:19 p.m.
