Lincoln County commissioners approve county tax-relief program, $50,000 TANF application and $3.12M in LATCF allocations

The Board of Lincoln County Commissioners on April 4 adopted a local property tax relief program that mirrors the state program, approved filing a $50,000 TANF grant application, and voted to spend $3,122,949.08 from the Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund presented by the County Treasurer.

The actions were unanimous motions taken during the board’s consent agenda. Commissioner Connelly moved to sign the TANF application and moved passage of the Lincoln County Wyoming Property Tax Relief Program; Commissioner Bowers moved to approve the consent agenda; both motions were adopted.

County Treasurer Jerry Greenfield presented the LATCF allocations and a county-level property tax refund program; he told the board that the county program mirrors state qualification rules and that eligible residents could claim relief under both state and county programs. Greenfield said he had reported different figures than some had expected but that he had obligated all funds and invited the Commissioners to a workshop on April 18 to review the allocations.

Chairman Hansen noted one procedural issue in the Treasurer’s presentation: the Sheriff’s Department did not appear on the list of LATCF allocations as presented. Hansen said the omission “has been left off the list” as presented and that he would communicate further with Sheriff Shane Johnson to resolve the oversight.

The TANF application (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) will move forward as authorized. The board also approved on the consent agenda routine items including minutes, assessment roll changes, and vouchers.

The Commissioners scheduled a follow-up workshop with the County Treasurer on April 18 to finalize LATCF and ARPA spending decisions and to answer department-level questions.
