Ludington board approves $354,234.77 bond payment, hires Thrun Law Firm and enters closed session on bargaining

The Ludington Area School District Board approved two formal action items and convened a closed session during its Jan. 19 meeting.

The Board approved a Bond Project Application and Certificate for Payment No. 67 in the amount of $354,234.77. The motion was made by Dr. Bret Autrey and supported by Steve Carlson; a roll call vote recorded ayes from Stephanie Reed, Dr. Bret Autrey, Sarah Lowman, Steve Carlson, Mike Nagle, Alan Neushwander and Mike Winczewski, and the motion carried 7-0.

The Board then approved retaining Thrun Law Firm, P.C. as the district’s legal counsel and authorized a proposed retainer fee of $2,500. The motion was made by Mike Nagle and supported by Steve Carlson; the roll call vote was unanimous (7-0).

Finally, the Board moved, on a motion by Dr. Bret Autrey supported by Sarah Lowman, to go into closed session to discuss collective bargaining strategy under MCL 15.268 Section 8(c) of the Open Meetings Act. The motion carried 7-0. The Board convened a closed session at 6:59 p.m. and returned to open session at 7:15 p.m.

All roll call votes on the listed items were recorded in the minutes as unanimous.
