The Madison County Board on March 17 postponed consideration of Zoning Resolution Z21-0009, a petition to rezone a 6.01-acre tract at 5910 Galli Lane in Collinsville from R-1 (single-family residential) to A (agricultural).
County board member Ryan Kneedler urged the board to pull the item for further review, saying, “I don’t feel like there’s enough information of the ZBA and the Building and Zoning Board.” Chairman Kurt Prenzler agreed to consider the item separately, and a motion to postpone the resolution for one month was made. The motion to postpone was seconded and carried by a recorded vote (ayes 28, nays 0).
The petition had been recommended for approval by the Madison County Zoning Board of Appeals. The public record for the meeting included written comments from neighbors and landowners. Resident Lloyd Mordis had earlier asked the board to rezone six acres to Agricultural to allow livestock, saying he wanted to “have livestock, such as goats or cows on the property to graze the pasture areas.” Another nearby developer, Christopher Geiler, submitted a written objection citing potential impacts on residential development.
Board members did not take additional action on Z21-0009 at the March meeting; the resolution will return to the agenda after supplemental information from the zoning boards or staff is provided.
