On March 5 the Wimberley City Council directed staff to put Climbing Way and Valley Drive out to bid as the city’s priority road improvement project for FY2026, and to include an alternate bid for a second segment.
Staff said the city’s road program budget for the year is $500,000. After reevaluating candidate streets and consulting staff and field crews, staff recommended prioritizing the Valley/Climbing Way corridor; the estimated base bid for that segment was $488,000. A secondary segment for the adjacent area was estimated at about $152,000 and was presented as a bid alternate.
Council discussed coordinating bids with Dripping Springs to improve pricing and noted the city has a maintenance program with roughly $75,000 set aside for pothole repairs (current balance not specified). Council approved the motion to put the priority segments out to bid and include the alternate by unanimous voice vote.
