Wimberley council items: Red Cross proclamation, consent agenda and canceled May election

At the start of the March 5 meeting the mayor read a proclamation declaring March 2026 as American Red Cross Month and recognized local Red Cross work and recent donations of disaster‑response equipment. Alicia Ramirez accepted the proclamation and thanked the council for support.

The council approved the consent agenda by voice vote and noted no registered public commenters for the evening. In a separate agenda item staff advised that three May races were unopposed; council canceled the May election, declared the candidates elected and noted swearing‑in and oath of office are scheduled for May 11 with terms taking effect at the second May meeting. Council also noted the budget savings from canceling the election (about $6,500).
