Mayor Robert Blythe and the Richmond City Board of Commissioners opened their meeting by recognizing two new businesses joining the local economy.
Carrie Lienzi introduced Citizens National Bank and called forward Sean Daugherty, who said the bank was founded in 1920 and expanded regionally starting in 2009. "As we were looking for where we could make a difference, Richmond seemed to be a very good spot to do so," Daugherty said, adding that the bank will convert a loan-production office into a branch and expects to hire locally, naming George Quarter (COO) and Josh Edwards (senior lender) as part of the local team.
The commission also welcomed Parlor Pizza. Owner Marce told commissioners Richmond will be the chain's seventh location and announced a grand opening ribbon-cutting for Thursday, March 26, with complimentary soft openings for first responders and city employees. "So I am Marce and we are bringing parlor pizza and pints to your town," Marce said, and said the business will support two local charities, Casa Wilderness Trail and Madison Animal Shelter.
Why it matters: New branches and restaurants can add jobs, expand local banking services and increase downtown activity. Both presenters emphasized local hiring and community involvement, which commissioners noted supports broader economic-development goals.
Local reaction and next steps: Mayor Blythe and commissioners welcomed the investments and attendees were invited to the announced ribbon-cutting and soft-open events; no formal action was required by the board.
