During public comment at the March 10 meeting, three residents raised local safety and planning concerns and asked the court for proactive steps.
Chris Barnes (Precinct 2) asked county departments—especially EMS and outdoor workers—not to spray and kill honeybee swarms and offered his free beekeeping assistance and contact information to remove swarms safely. He also suggested portable radar speed‑display signs along the Highway 6 expansion and asked the county to contact TxDOT about obtaining or deploying such devices. Finally, he pointed out a tall barrier wall on the Highway 6/MLK–Old Reliance Road bridge that blocks sight lines for drivers on service roads and asked engineers to consider lowering the wall when the bridge is redesigned.
Christine Schimick (Precinct 2) asked the court to examine a hold‑harmless clause in a local roadway agreement and requested a workshop or agenda item so election officials can publicly review voter roll concerns raised by citizens and respond to media claims.
Kathy Viens (Precinct 4) urged the court to hold a town hall or workshop on data centers before any abatement applications reach the court, asking for information on building size, cooling/BTU demands, backup power duration, environmental impacts and workforce sourcing.
Separately, the court presented a proclamation recognizing Pamela Robinson (Veterans Service Officer) for her service to Brazos County veterans, noting partnerships with Texas A&M and quantified benefits the office helped secure for local veterans; commissioners and colleagues thanked her as she prepares to take a position in Colorado.
No formal actions were taken on the public comments; requesters asked the court to pursue workshops or staff follow‑up.
