The Adams County district attorney, Rebecca, introduced the office's new deputy district attorney, Jennifer Zima, who has served in the role since mid-December and joins the office from Wood County with prior experience at the state public defender's office.
"She's been filling the role since mid-December and comes from Wood County with five years experience," Rebecca said, noting the DA's office is now fully staffed and better able to handle complex caseloads.
Janet, from the child support office, reported her unit is fully staffed after hiring specialist Kaylee Lemke and said cooperative agreements with partner agencies are complete and renew every two years. "She's been training and doing great and already has a few cases that she's working on," Janet said of the new specialist.
Bethany, the medical examiner, said her office is not fully staffed. She described a December hire who accepted a full-time position elsewhere after initially accepting part-time work; Bethany said the hiring process will restart this week.
The sheriff reported the planned Sys Academy will be canceled for lack of applicants and said deputies will carry donated EpiPens alongside defibrillator units and Narcan after a local family and nonprofit helped secure donations. The sheriff said the office will continue in-service training and will log and check expirations on first-aid kit supplies monthly.
Committee chair thanked department heads and noted this is the committee's last meeting under the current term before adjourning.
