At the Fairfield Board of Assessment Appeals, an owner of a Morehouse Drive property described newly installed high‑tension transmission poles sited very near the home and said the work included removing trees that had served as a buffer.
The chair introduced the appeal for James and Lena Marquetos. The homeowner described towers sited about 125 feet from the front door and said there are three towers affecting the property: “I opened my front door and … that’s exactly a 125 feet from my front door,” the homeowner said, explaining multiple towers are visible from the slider and front yard and that nine trees used as part of the landscaping were cut down. The homeowner told the panel the company offered replacement bushes but that construction equipment had killed the new plantings.
The appellant said the changes have made the house harder to sell; when a broker visited the property earlier, the homeowner said, the agent warned the family would not realize the price they might have expected before the towers were installed. The chair reviewed photos submitted by the homeowner and told the appellant she would present the case to the full board for consideration.
No vote was taken at the hearing; the board will include the homeowner’s exhibits in the packet for the full panel’s review.
