Heritage turf finished; EC Glass turf shift to start after spring sports

Facilities staff told the committee the Heritage High School turf project is complete and that Lynchburg City Schools held a ribbon-cutting March 4 to mark the opening.

The presenter thanked staff and partners involved in the project by name and noted the ceremonial first pitch by Superintendent Dr. Majette. "It was a great event and a proud moment for our division," the presenter said. The presenter singled out Jordan Eubank, Don Floyd, Brian Green, Brad Bridal and Tim Beatty for roles in the project and thanked communications staff for coordinating the event.

On E.C. Glass, staff reported they released Keystone Sports to begin the design phase for the turf shift; the plan calls for surveys and drawings now, construction after spring sports conclude, and a goal to complete the work before the first home games. Track work will follow and is scheduled to be completed in the summer. Committee members praised the finished Heritage field and discussed scheduling to avoid conflicts with spring athletics.

Staff said they will plan a ribbon-cutting for E.C. Glass after work is complete. No contract award votes were taken during the committee meeting; staff reported project status and next steps.
