Committee forwards six-month lease for E911 administrative staff and $25,000 budget amendment to full council

The Finance Administration Committee voted to forward to full council a resolution authorizing a short-term lease for E911 administrative and training staff at 624 South Main (approximately 1,700 square feet), with an initial six-month term at $2,300 per month and a requested FY2026 budget amendment of $25,000 to cover lease, moving and miscellaneous costs.

Staff clarified the lease covers E911 administrative staff only and not 911 call takers, who remain in a fortified section of the Justice Complex. "For clarification, this is for the administrative staff of 9-1-1, not the 9-1-1 call takers," Staff (S11) said, explaining the administrative staff currently occupy disparate temporary spaces and that a short-term lease would consolidate training and communications until the new 9-1-1 center is completed.

Committee discussion asked why the lease term was limited to six months; staff said the lease can be renewed and keeping a short initial term preserves flexibility while exploring longer-term options for police or other temporary complex space.
