Jonesboro planning commission approves minutes, flags March quorum and outlines Design Week engagement

The City of Jonesboro Metropolitan Area Planning Commission approved the minutes from the previous meeting and conducted routine business before moving into agenda items.

John Haley moved to approve the minutes “as submitted,” and a commissioner seconded. The motion passed on a voice vote.

Staff reported that a separately scheduled rezoning was published but not all required notifications were sent, forcing that item to be rescheduled. The city planner asked commissioners to confirm whether they can attend the March 24 meeting because spring break could affect quorum; staff said that if five members attend there will be a quorum and that they will follow up by the end of the week.

Staff also announced Design Week for the city’s comprehensive plan and master street plan, to be held March 30–April 4 at the old YMCA building. The planner described the event as a series of all-day sessions, charrettes and steering-committee meetings and said staff will circulate dates and the schedule for sessions open to the public.

The commission adjourned with no further business.
