City of Parkland staff asked members of the Community Advisory Board to help secure community partners and funding for an upcoming Parents for Peace presentation and tentatively scheduled a subcommittee meeting to begin planning.
“For the record, Jackie Wehmeyer, senior director of strategy and intergovernmental affairs,” said Jackie Wehmeyer as she briefed the board on the item. She said the City Commission asked the CAB at its strategic planning retreat to identify partners to fund and market the Parents for Peace event and asked whether any members had made connections since the last meeting.
No new sponsors were reported from the board, so staff proposed moving ahead by forming a subcommittee to rehearse logistics and outreach. Wehmeyer said the subcommittee membership would include Bill, Jeff, Kelty and Doug Eaton and that the group must take minutes and follow formal meeting requirements even though it is a subcommittee. The board tentatively agreed to meet April 7 at 5:00 p.m., pending city calendar and room availability; staff will confirm whether the meeting can be recorded and will notify members of final timing.
Board members discussed room availability and whether the subcommittee’s meeting should be held in this municipal room to use existing recording equipment. The chair and staff agreed to check the city calendar and confirm. The board also discussed if the subcommittee would elect a president after convening; staff noted nominations would occur at the subcommittee meeting.
Next steps: staff will confirm the April 7 meeting time and room, report back to the CAB, and notify members if additional partners are secured.
