Rules and Ethics Committee adopts special order letter, sets amendment deadlines

Chair Garrison opened the Rules and Ethics Committee meeting March 10 and presented a special order letter scheduling the committee’s business for the Wednesday, March 11 session. "Members, on the desk is a special order letter for session on Wednesday, March 11," Garrison said, adding that negotiated time allocations for questions and debate were included as required by the committee rules.

After asking for questions and debate and receiving none, Garrison called a voice vote. "All in favor of the special order letter say yay," the chair said; members replied and Garrison announced, "Show the special order letter is hereby adopted." The adoption places the listed bills on special order with the negotiated time limits noted in the letter.

Garrison then reminded members of amendment filing deadlines for the upcoming session. "Main amendments must be submitted to house bill drafting by 7AM and approved for filing by 8AM. Adhering amendments must be submitted to house bill drafting and approved for filing by 9AM," Garrison said, specifying the office and the cutoff times for the morning of the session.

With no further business, Representative Fabricio moved to adjourn. The chair accepted the motion and closed the meeting; Garrison concluded, "See everyone tomorrow morning."
