Riley County Commission approves 2027 budget calendar; staff to set appropriations hearings

Riley County commissioners voted on March 9 to approve the county’s 2027 budget calendar and baseline schedule.

Britney Phillips (budget and finance officer) presented a proposed calendar with May 14 set aside for appropriations and May 11 for department-head budget presentations (with May 11 focused on county-managed budgets because of the county officials’ luncheon). Phillips also scheduled a June 18 date for any new or expanded position requests and noted a previously-scheduled executive-session for a department-head evaluation.

Commissioner S3 moved to approve the 2027 budget calendar and baseline; a second was recorded and the board approved the calendar by voice vote. Phillips said she will schedule follow-up meetings and refine timing for staff presentations and any required public notices.
