At its March 9 meeting the Talladega City Council cleared a series of consent and administrative items: reappointments and new appointments to boards, grouped travel requests, multiple weed‑abatement actions, approval of invoices and a capital purchase for the fire department.
Appointments: The council reappointed Kelly Adams and appointed DeeDee Elliott to the Talladega Library Board; it also appointed Dr. Willie L. Todd Jr. to the industrial board and reappointed Charles Montgomery to the Heritage Hall Commission. Those motions were made, seconded and passed by voice vote.
Travel and invoices: Council grouped and approved travel resolutions numbered 6637 through 6642 for staff and council training and meetings. The council approved invoices and expenditures of $349,934.48 and later approved water department invoices totaling $520,402.10.
Weed abatements: Resolutions 6643 through 6648 placed liens or assessed costs for weed abatement on multiple addresses after council confirmed that residents had been given due process.
Capital purchase: The council approved Resolution 6649 to purchase a 2026 Southern Energy model mobile unit for the Talladega Fire Department. The cost was corrected in discussion to $58,477; council noted the item was part of the adopted Capital Improvement Program and approved the purchase.
No contested roll calls were reported for these consent items; several measures passed unanimously or by the grouped roll call recorded in the meeting.
