Bridget Brent, president of the Leander Chamber of Commerce, presented the visitor‑center operations report and tourism metrics for the previous year and shared goals for 2026.
Brent summarized that the chamber’s visitor‑center and Tour Texas placements are important traffic drivers and said the city was recently designated a tourism‑friendly city by the state. She described marketing placements, a new visitor guide and plans for a ribbon cutting in May for the chamber’s new building where the state will present the recognition.
Why it matters: tourism and a stable visitor‑center fund support local businesses and event programming that drive visits and sales tax revenue. Brent said the chamber currently estimates about 1,589 businesses in Leander with roughly 716 chamber members and identified workforce shortages, business knowledge gaps and higher local costs as the main barriers for local businesses.
Details: Brent said festival and family‑friendly attractions are top drivers of visitor traffic and that volunteers and partnerships are a critical component to program delivery. Council members thanked the chamber for recruitment assistance in attracting a signature hotel and for ongoing marketing work.
