Subcommittee extends DOT-related sunset provision for five years

A five-year sunset extension for a DOT-related statute drew brief remarks and unanimous support. Earl Hunter, representing multiple water and wastewater associations, said stakeholders and DOT had worked collaboratively since the law’s 2019 adoption and supported another five-year extension to continue improvements and fast-tracking efforts. The subcommittee voted to report the extension favorably and adjourned.

The witness said the provision passed overwhelmingly in prior sessions and that continuing the sunset would allow ongoing cooperation between local associations and DOT to maintain project timelines.
