Beaufort County will host two public meetings to share information about the Lowcountry Council of Governments’ SC 170 corridor study, the county broadcast said.
Kevin Libby, host of the Beaufort County broadcast, announced the first meeting will be held March 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Palmetto Electric in Hardeeville, with a second meeting on March 12 at Robert Smalls Leadership Academy in Beaufort. County engineering is hosting the sessions to help residents understand current and projected conditions along the SC 170 corridor and to discuss proposed improvements aimed at enhancing safety, reducing crash risk, and improving roadway network connectivity as the area grows.
Libby said the Transportation Advisory Committee will also meet at 1 p.m. on March 11 in the Benjamin m Recusement Council Chambers at 1 Town Center Court on Hilton Head Island; that meeting’s agenda includes a presentation of the Lowcountry Area Transportation Study and a municipal presentation from the town of Hilton Head Island. The broadcast noted that agenda packets and press releases are available on the county website, beaufortcountysc.gov/calendar and beaufortcountysc.gov/news.
The county encouraged residents to attend the public meetings to learn about proposed corridor improvements and to ask questions of project staff.
