The Accomack County Board of Zoning Appeals on March 14 approved multiple special-use permits for residential construction and temporary on-site habitation, adopting staff-recommended conditions in each case.
Barrick Homes' proposal for a single-family dwelling at a 1.1-acre site in the general business district (SUSE00017-2026) was approved with six conditions that require compliance with the site plan, applicable VDOT and health regulations, a two-year permit expiration and routine inspections. Kim Watson of Barrick Homes told the board the house will be stick-built on-site.
Jonathan Mudd received approvals for a single-family dwelling (SUSE00021-2026) and a temporary RV permit to occupy a travel trailer while construction proceeds (SUSE00024-2026). Staff noted existing well and septic capacity on the Taylor Road parcel and recommended a one-year expiration or earlier termination upon issuance of a certificate of occupancy for the dwelling; Mudd said he expected construction to take about three to four months.
Tracy Dedicatoria's accessory-dwelling permit and associated temporary RV permit on a roughly 30-acre agricultural parcel were also approved. Dedicatoria described the requested RV occupancy as an after-the-fact temporary measure and told the board the proposed new house will be ADA-compliant; staff said the Health Department had approved septic plans and recommended conditions including prohibition of short-term rental and standard inspection and maintenance requirements.
Each approval was accompanied by conditions that the board read into the record (building permits, compliance with VDOT/VDH regulations, inspection allowances, maintenance obligations, and expiration terms tied to one year or issuance of a certificate of occupancy).
