Forest Hills Public Schools' board members voted March 9 to approve a package of finance and construction items brought forward by the finance office, including a Meadowbrook renovation contract not to exceed $11,943,231 and several technology and facilities purchases.
In a midyear finance report, Dr. Michelle summarized project status and recommended approvals. "Total cost not to exceed $11,943,231," Dr. Michelle said when describing the Meadowbrook bid results, which included low bidders for most categories and a recommendation to replace exterior windows in one alternate. She also recommended purchase of a replacement physical firewall and seven-year software licensing from Delta Network Services at a cost not to exceed $245,619 and noted that the expense is E-rate eligible.
Other items approved included structured cabling for multiple sites (Vector Tech Group, $224,222), classroom audio hardware (Lightspeed Technologies, not to exceed $502,680) and installation services (Data Image, not to exceed $68,351), food-service kitchen equipment for Ada Elementary (not to exceed $57,813), an AI floor scrubber for Northern High School ($50,500), and renewed annual contracts for fertilizer/weed control ($225,164 per year) and lawn maintenance ($478,300 per year).
Dr. Michelle outlined procurement details and rationale for replacements and upgrades and told the board the district is midyear on spending and absorbing the Meadowbrook increase within bond balances. The board then conducted a roll-call vote; the transcript records affirmative "Yes" responses from each member called and the items were approved.
Why it matters: The package includes multi-year construction and technology investments that affect multiple school sites and the district's capital budget. Some items are E-rate eligible and others were presented with bidder and warranty details.
What happens next: Contract execution and phased implementation were discussed; elementary audio upgrades are slated for the summer and secondary upgrades within the following year. Staff said they will follow up with any vendor paperwork and implementation timelines.
