At the start of the March 10 meeting, two IHSS providers addressed the board during the public-comment period to thank supervisors for a memorandum of understanding on wages and benefits for In‑Home Supportive Services providers.
"I am a proud UDW member, and IHSS provider to my mother Nubia," Gladys Tellez said. She described caregiving as her top priority for 15 years and said the agreement will strengthen the IHSS program so clients can remain safely at home.
David Rodriguez, who identified himself as an IHSS provider for his wife, praised the county for the memorandum and said provider wages and benefits directly affect the stability and quality of care for recipients.
Both speakers urged continued board support for IHSS providers and families who depend on home-based care. No board action occurred on public-comment items; the board proceeded to the consent calendar and other agenda items.
