Board unanimously approves Executive Director Cannon’s employment agreement with severance provision

The Children’s Trust board unanimously approved an employment agreement for Executive Director Miss Cannon that runs from Feb. 12, 2026, to Feb. 11, 2027, and includes a severance provision to provide protection in the event the organization is terminated for reasons outside the director’s control.

Legal counsel presented the finalized contract, noting it tracks the board’s instructions from the previous meeting and that the severance language was the principal substantive change. Board members discussed the timing of the agreement in the context of broader uncertainty about tax-funding changes and contract extensions for vendors. The motion to authorize the chair to execute the employment agreement was moved, seconded and approved unanimously.

The approved contract and severance clause were framed by board members as prudent protection for staff given possible future organizational changes; counsel said the language and dates had been updated from last year’s agreement.
