Performing arts center project readied for groundbreaking; board approves status report and small change orders

Cindy, representing the Greyhound Performing Arts Center project team, told the board the building is ready and the groundbreaking is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. the next day, weather permitting. She briefed the board on recent contractor coordination and materials procurement.

Cindy said the project team recommended that the performing arts center contractor provide builder’s‑risk insurance because the contractor can obtain a more favorable rate; the report estimated a district saving of about $8,400 by using the contractor’s insurance option. She also described logistics for member site visits and the jobsite trailer, and noted that some lead times remain for certain equipment (for example, an air handler) but that schedule adjustments prevented a delay.

The board signed a $630 change order to repaint existing cabinet unit heaters (a cost‑saving alternative to replacement) and approved the monthly status report and pay applications by motion. The board was reminded that the center is located at the back of Aldo Leopold Intermediate School and that the public should use the Aldo site entrance for the groundbreaking.

Next steps: The project will proceed to groundbreaking, contractors will continue punch list work and the district will monitor lead times for outstanding equipment.
