The Ogden Community School District board approved recommended K–12 social‑studies curriculum purchases and several secondary science materials after a multi‑stage vetting process led by teachers and staff. District leaders said committees reviewed materials for alignment with recently revised state standards, rigor and classroom usability.
District staff explained the committee’s choice to defer elementary science adoption for now because state science standards had recently changed and available materials were not yet aligned. The board accepted the recommendation to pause elementary science purchases and use state-provided resources in the interim.
Separately, the board approved a host‑family application to accept an exchange student from Switzerland for the 2026–27 school year. Staff noted the student would be a resident in the district and therefore would not increase the district’s state attendance count; the board approved the request after confirming the program’s documentation and the student’s transcript would be evaluated by counselors for appropriate placement.
Board members praised the depth of the vetting process for curriculum selection and underscored teacher involvement in reviewing materials. No additional budgetary appropriation beyond the packet’s recommended amounts was requested at the time of the vote; staff said the district is working toward a seven‑year adoption rotation to spread costs over time.
