Council to consider mayoral appointees on March 23; resident raises conflict concern over Brownfield nominee

The mayor's office presented two appointments during the study session.

Benjamin Greer was proposed for a three-year term on the Livonia Economic Development Corporation (term to expire 06/07/2029). Staff said the EDC historically provides low-interest bond financing for certain projects and meets infrequently; the council placed the appointment on the March 23 consent agenda.

Robert Donovic was nominated to complete a vacated three-year term on the Livonia Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. Donovic addressed the council, said he has Brownfield experience and expressed eagerness to serve. Resident Deb Christianson spoke during audience communication and said, "Rob, mister Donovic is a contractor, and I believe that he shouldn't hold this position because of that role. And it's really a conflict of interest for our city." Donovic and staff did not provide further action in the study session; the council placed the appointment on the March 23 consent agenda.

The council took no vote at the study session and will formally consider both nominations at its regular meeting on March 23.
