Mark Mendelmann of Seacoast Enterprises presented a request for a 10‑year trustees' maintenance permit to cover bulkhead repair, limited maintenance dredging (10 feet seaward of the bulkhead), piling replacement and dock board repair at 3 Mile Harbor Marina.
Mendelmann said he submitted an authorization request to the NY DEC and sought alignment so the trustees' permit and DEC coverage would run contemporaneously. Trustees discussed decking materials, the use of flow‑through decking or modular jet‑float docks, and the width of existing piers. One trustee said the DEC prefers flow‑through decking for new construction but acknowledged it is not always applicable in commercial marina settings.
A trustee moved to grant trustee authorization consistent with whatever coverage the DEC issues; another trustee seconded the motion. The board voted in favor and asked the applicant to provide the annual report required under the trustees' 10‑year maintenance permit regime. Trustees also noted they would be notified before any dredging event and that all required notifications to involved agencies must be given prior to work.
