Commission reports unanimous closed-session settlement with Access Sacramento

The Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission reported out of closed session that it had unanimously approved a settlement agreement with the Sacramento Community Cable Foundation, commonly known as Access Sacramento, concerning the return of retained PEG funds for prior fiscal years.

Staff member Nelson told commissioners that the settlement was approved unanimously and thanked Access Sacramento for working to resolve the matter amicably. Nelson said staff appreciates Access Sacramento's efforts to reach agreement and described the outcome as an administrative settlement of outstanding retained funds.

The commission did not disclose detailed settlement terms during the public report; Nelson’s public statement described approval of the agreement and staff’s appreciation for the organization’s cooperation. The commission then proceeded with the agenda, moving to grant presentations and channel-licensee reports.

The settlement arose from a closed-session conference with legal counsel and anticipated litigation. Commissioners said they were grateful the matter was resolved without protracted litigation and expressed appreciation for the outreach that led to the agreement.
