Senior Planner Sarah Pizzo reported to the Planning Commission on March 9 that an offer for the planning director position was accepted by Brooke Edom, currently the planning director in the City of Snohomish, and that she is expected to start March 31.
Pizzo said the recruitment drew 29 applicants, 15 moved to the screening interview stage, and 4 finalists went through panel interviews. "An offer was extended and accepted, by Brooke Edom ... and she will start March 31," Pizzo told commissioners.
Commissioners also asked about the status of several development proposals near Terrace Station. Pizzo said the Candela project has submitted revisions to building and landscaping plans and that staff are reviewing those updates. A separate proposed building in the Terrace Station complex has completed a "complete application" for land‑use review (including a site development plan, critical area report and SEPA) and is in early land‑use review. The former Rogers Market site has land‑use approval and is now in civil and building permit review.
Commissioners discussed parking near the light‑rail station and the possibility that increased private parking could affect commuter parking patterns at the park‑and‑ride. Staff said no construction permits had been issued yet for these projects and that timelines depend on permit review and market conditions.
No formal votes or ministerial actions occurred during the updates.
