Samford presenter Jeff Polacek announces transition, introduces Tripp Gray as community liaison

Jeff Polacek, the Samford University representative listed on the agenda, told the Homewood pre‑council he is transitioning out of his role with Samford and moving back to his home state of Connecticut after about 30 years away.

“I am transitioning out of my role with Samford University. I’m moving back to my home state of Connecticut,” Polacek said, and thanked city staff and council members for eight years of collaboration. He introduced Tripp Gray as the person who will take his place and serve as Samford’s community liaison.

Polacek said Gray has worked with Samford for years through Ford Construction and has been involved in campus projects and vendor partnerships. Polacek and Gray said Samford intends to remain “very involved and integrated” with Homewood departments and the council. Polacek asked for a brief transition period to share institutional knowledge with Gray.

The council and staff thanked Polacek and welcomed Gray; no formal council action was required.
