The Oconto Falls Public School District Board reviewed a packet of policy updates March 9 and moved several items forward for board reading and future approval.
Policy committee leadership walked the board through technical corrections (35-1), SSO updates, and other policy changes including personal communication devices (PCD) language and an update addressing artificial intelligence. The committee highlighted legal alerts with compliance timelines, including an ADA-related item due in April 2027 and other compliance items due the following month; district staff (IT) are assigned to address those deadlines.
Board discussion focused on policy 12.10, where the committee recommended retaining a paragraph that would make the district administrator accountable for personal behavior. Some board members preferred keeping the language (to preserve an explicit expectation in policy) while others noted that contractual language might already cover conduct expectations. The committee and several members agreed to leave the language in place for the second reading.
On a motion, the board approved first reading of the first three policy items and approved first and second reading on Act 57 so that the district can implement required reporting and updates promptly. The board carried the motion by roll call.
No substantive policy text changes were adopted at this meeting beyond the board’s procedural vote to advance readings.
