Kyle Rovers of Nexus presented a construction progress report on the district’s new pool facility, telling the board that structural and enclosure work is underway and that preparations now focus on mechanical rough-in and excavation.
"The precast walls have gone up around the main competition pool... structural steel has gone in to place," Rovers said, adding that the team plans to dig a 14-foot-deep hole for the competition pool inside the building in the coming weeks. Rovers said mechanical rough-ins, under-floor plumbing in locker rooms and pool-equipment rooms, and stormwater retention work are advancing and that roofing work for the competition pool will start soon.
Budget issues have been manageable to date: Rovers said the project had "run into some poor soils" but that allowances were in place and that the project was "still under budget, pretty sizable amount." He said the schedule targets an early-spring 2027 opening for the new competition pool and noted the district will maintain a community pool in operation during transition planning.
Board members asked about logistics for tours and accessibility for large equipment; Rovers said a muddy site prevents immediate walkthroughs but that a tour will be scheduled when conditions improve.
