Neighbor tells council one child killed on Davis Boulevard; asks for speed‑limit and enforcement review

A Liberty Village resident told the council March 9 that she is concerned about speeding and inconsistent speed limits on Davis Boulevard and urged the city to push for safer conditions.

Mary Michaels said she attended a public open house about planned raised medians and then began watching traffic near her house adjacent to Davis Boulevard. "I do see people running red lights. North Tarrant is very dangerous," Michaels said. She told the council she recorded speeding and added, "One child, 12 year old, has been killed there."

Mayor and staff thanked Michaels for raising the issue and asked her to send additional information by email so staff could follow up. Planning staff Corey Ream and other city staff offered to coordinate with TxDOT and the police department to check speed limits, enforcement patterns and timeline for the Davis Boulevard median project.

Council did not take formal action during the meeting but staff indicated they would follow up with the resident and relevant state and city officials.
