Christopher Brown, owner of Bad Dog Tennis, updated the Flower Mound Parks and Recreation Board on the company's local operations during the March 5 meeting.
Brown said Bad Dog Tennis has operated in Flower Mound for eight years and completed the second year of its current five-year contract with the town. "Two years ago our total group programming revenue was around 150. You add the private lessons to that and our overall revenue was $200,000… This year we bumped it up to around $245,000," Brown said, describing growth despite a flat participant count. He said the program served almost 600 Flower Mound residents and about 150 nonresidents in the most recent reporting period.
Brown told the board the program is at close to full utilization with four courts and that daytime expansion is limited by court availability and restroom placement near the sidewalk. He and staff discussed tournament accounting (USTA tournaments generate separate checks) and the constraints that keep Bad Dog from hosting many more tournaments until more courts and restroom access are available.
Board members thanked Brown for the update and asked follow-up questions about how tournaments are booked and which revenues are included in the reports. Brown said tournament fees are handled through the USTA and not included in the group's operating totals. He identified opportunities to expand daytime programming (homeschool classes, additional junior sessions) but said physical capacity remains the primary limit.
The board did not take formal action on the report; staff said court capacity and facility improvements will be considered in broader facility planning.
