The Mount Clemens City Commission on July 6 approved several consent and routine actions.
The commission authorized sale of a landlocked vacant city lot (address transcribed as "95 Inches") to Mary Ann Bullock for $1,000 and authorized the mayor and city clerk to sign closing documents. Staff described the parcel history as a street reconfiguration during urban renewal that left the parcel landlocked; a neighbor (Mrs. Stevenson, speaker 13) explained that the street used to run through the area to a park. The motion carried on roll call.
The commission also adopted a resolution recognizing the Martha T. Berry Foundation as a local civic organization to support the foundation's application for a state charitable gaming license for an event on Sept. 10, 2015; staff noted the licensing requirements and that the city attorney reviewed the request.
Separately, the commission approved purchases and payment of invoices, including a three‑year $9,000/year striping contract and an $8,500 allocation for special projects with a contracted IT vendor. Finance Director Marilyn DeLooney (speaker 14) explained how encumbrances from fiscal year 2014–15 carry forward into the next year and said the server purchase ($11,000) was expedited to avoid system failure. Commissioners asked whether county purchasing could yield lower prices and staff said timing made immediate purchase necessary in that instance.
What happens next: The city will execute sale documents, proceed with charitable license support paperwork, and staff will carry forward encumbrances and manage vendor work and budgeting as discussed.
